A Truly Magic Day

Posted by CSC on March 21, 2018

Every year CSC proudly supports the Waikato Special Children's Christmas Party.

Having been and seen the sheer joy on the faces of these kids, this must be one of the most rewarding donations any organisation can make.

It really does bring alive our vision of "building richer communities".

Have a look at the video of the 2017 party and you'll see what I mean.

NZME are the driving force behind the day. This is what they had to say about it:

"The invitees were sourced through in excess of 250 local schools and various Government, community and charitable organisations that are involved with these children on a daily basis.

It was a fun filled 3 and a half hours for the children. They received drinks, lollies, chippies, iceblocks, ice creams, energy bars, sausages, sandwiches, fruit juice, apples, etc, to keep the energy levels high. There were jumping castles, face painting, merry-go-rounds, clowns, dancers, fairies, magicians, Chewbacca, Storm troopers, Fire Engines, police cars etc to provide plenty of fun and entertainment!

There was also an ongoing stage show featuring local acts with heaps of entertainment and celebrities hosted by the VERY popular Jason Faafoi and Stephen McIvor from Sky TV.

The highlight of the day was when Santa arrived in style to greet the excited 5000 plus crowd. It was then off to the Santa’s HUGE cave filled with thousands of top quality gifts, which spread for over 70 metres under an impressive light and decoration display (compliments of Event Lighting).  Here every child, according to 5 different age groups, personally met with Santa and received  3 or 4 gifts to call their own. The gifts this year included large soft Teddy bears, Science smart boxes, educational laptop computers, Dinosaur adventure playsets, board games, secret spy mission sets, remote control cars, Lego sets, colour, shape & number floor games, kids doctors sets, electronic saxophones (my favourite!), and many more

Since the event we have been absolutely swamped with phone calls, letters and cards thanking sponsors, the helpers and us for an unforgettable day. Many parents describing how it was the best day in their child’s life… and they have never seen them so happy!

Without the generous support of the business community and all the helpers and volunteer groups who assisted on the day, this event simply wouldn’t be possible. On behalf of the children and families who attended the party I would like to extend our personal thanks and we look forward to joining with you again this year to give these very special children an even bigger and better day."
